It's not every day that you find a company that expertly brews beer and roasts coffee in house. In 2013, Modern Times brewery started roasting coffee experimentally to help concoct their Black House oatmeal stout. It turned out their coffee was just as delicious on its own as it was in their beers. In 2014, they started selling bags of their coffee to the public, and in 2015 Modern Times Black House coffee scored 94 points from Coffee Review.
So where did the name Modern Times come from? "Modern Times" was originally an experimental utopian community in Long Island that sought to create a less exploitative, more pleasurable world. According to Modern Times' founder, he chose this name for his brewery and roastery because he is "fascinated by the colorful, ambitious little pockets of history that develop in the folds of progress, the forgotten little paradises that barely register in the onward rush of civilization."
We love a good story here at Nöje, especially when accompanied by exceptional flavors. We hope you'll love Modern Times as much as we do.
